Hydrocephalus is dilatation of a part or whole of the ventricular system as a result of excessive collection of cerebrospinal fluid under increased pressure. Unilateral hydrocephalus would therefore indicate au obstructive dilatation of the ventricular system on one side, i.e., involving a part or whole of one lateral ventricle. Obstruction at the foramen of-Monro results in¢¥ unilateral dilatation of the ipsilateral
lateral ventricle. The causes are various, including physical or morphological obstruction by neoplasms, abscess, vascular anomaly, intrauterine mumps infection, or congenital atresia.
We report a case of unilateral congenital hydrocephalus with brief review for literatures.
